International Personal Data Protection Day

28
January 2020

This day is meant to remind Internet users of certain rules of behavior on the Internet that help make their virtual and real life safer. On 28 January 1981, the Council of Europe signed Convention 108 for the Protection of Individuals regarding automatic processing of personal data. In some countries this day is referred to as Confidentiality Day. The Convention became the first legally binding instrument of data protection, which defined the notion of personal data and described mechanisms of privacy protection. Two working groups are developing amendments to the Convention to increase personal data protection level not only in Europe, but all over the world.
