Emancipation Day in Jamaica

Emancipation Day is celebrated in former British colonies and other realms and territories. This holiday is magnificently celebrated in the British Caribbean countries and considered as an official holiday. Slavery was officially abolished in the British Empire in 1834. Also on the 1st of August slavery was abolished in the southern part of the Caribbean - Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.
