Merry Christmas! Planetary Project team wishes you all peace, prosperity, happiness & mutual respect.

Tolerance is a western concept; Mutual respect is the "Eastern" concept. Can we try to think of Managed harmony with the concept of "Mutual respect"? This is at such a time when the word "Tolerance" is losing its meaning in the western world.

Migrants, guests, aliens and many other people from Eastern Europe are already a big irritation factor in the west. So what is better for the concept of managed harmony. Mutual respect or tolerance? Nationalism or patriotism?

Today such thin lines are drawn between the words to create "friend and foe" concepts.
Local & Alien - all are being painted in the same colors.

Bhagwat Gita just like many sacred books talks much about managed harmony. So is the philosophical approach is the final remedy for the mankind?

Adam Smith the famous economical genius, also had many solutions in the philosophy rather than in sheer "economical figures".

Virtue is more to be feared than vice, because its excesses are not subject to the regulation of conscience.

The Theory of Moral Sentiments discusses how sympathy, empathy, benevolence, generosity, compassion, etc., which "Nature has lighted up in the human heart" restrain selfishness in socially optimal ways, and in The Wealth of Nations competition directs the restrained self-interest to the social optimum. This process of channeling self-interest to produce the social optimum through moral sentiments and competition is the invisible hand at work.

So if we want to make a secular, democratic, peaceful, prosperous world; then one has to think about creating a society which works towards managed harmony using the path of "mutual respect", "patriotism". Otherwise the paradigm shift will take a new course where lots of campaigns with radical philosophies (just like we had ISIL/ISIS/Al QAEDA & many other radical organizations).

What's happening in Austria where fascists have won elections, with Italy voting No for reforms, with French elections in couple of months & economy in shambles, with Brexit still in process - one has to start thinking about the real paradigm shift, from sustainable development to managed harmony.
